filepro utillity menu option 4 say's CONVERT FILES FROM MS-DOS
FILEPRO I have used this before and it worked, i just pop in a
diskette and it converts the database from dos format to the unix
format nicely, but when i tried to access the database in unix useing
file creation as an example i get this filepro error "File has been
illegally modified"
or are you guy's saying that, that option does not work anymore?

Well that's interesting. I too have that as an option.
4 Convert files from MSDOS filePro
@/fp/scripts/doconvert

However, I don't have that program in *my* scripts directory :-(
Otherwise I'd help you debug it.

Anyone else not have it?

# cd /appl/fp/scripts
# ls -l
total 88
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 1204 Oct 19 2004 addunlock
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 838 Oct 19 2004 devlist
-rw------- 1 root wheel 1751 Oct 19 2004 fp.list
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 3407 Oct 19 2004 fpbackup
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 5508 Oct 19 2004 setperms
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 64688 Oct 19 2004 sitepwd
-rwx------ 1 root wheel 2472 Oct 19 2004 whatdev

And it's nowhere on the box...
# locate doconvert
#

So I guess it's
1) either a script that was a add-on purchase with 5.0
2) or Someone forgot to add it to the scripts directory
3) or Someone forgot to remove it from the default util menu
4) I've got a 4.X util menu (most likely possible)

My guess for your problem is that the map file is not being converted
is why
your problem is happening. I can't be of much more help without the
script.
