When he tries to IUA he is asked for a password - He cannot get passed this point! He tried renaming the file back to its original name but no luck, somewhere along the way, this got corrupted or overwritten. How can he fix this? I would gladly assist him, but I always use fp provided utils tools to rename or copy files, never had an issue like this. Thank you all in advance for your assistance. -- Jose Lerebours 954-559-7186 https://www.asisuites.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... To fix this yourself involves a complicated hand-edit of map file, possibly with creating a dummy filePro file with same name - as password encryption includes the filename in it's algorithm. Alternatively, you can send it to fp tech support and they can do it for you. Not sure of the fee, if any, and if they ask anything for proof of ownership. -joe On Tue, Oct 13, 2026 at 02:05:53PM +0000, fpgroups via Filepro-list wrote: > WIN SERVER 2016 > FilePro 5.# > > Just received a call from a colleague that renamed a file via explorer and after doing so, the creation password no longer works. > > When he tries to IUA he is asked for a password - He cannot get passed this point! > > He tried renaming the file back to its original name but no luck, somewhere along the way, this got corrupted or overwritten. > > How can he fix this? In the end, a copy from EC2 nightly backup got him going ... RDP in, copy / paste; he may have lost a day's work on those tables/files but at least he is operational now.
