SCO Unix Server

I will only address hardware as I am a Windows person.
I have one client who has replaced his servers(2) recently with HP servers
and another who has installed Dell R-430 rack server and a T-330 backup
server. I installed a R-330 Dell server. All server hardware has shown no
problems. The one exception was the R-430 had motherboard issue and Dell
replaced it promptly. It did require a reinstall of the Windows Server 2012
and a rebuild of the arrays and filePro re-install. During that time my
client continued to use their old HP server which was having some issues.
Once the motherboard was replaced in the r-430, and the filePro data files
to the new server an xcopy task copied the updated files to the new server
each night. The new server was allowed to burn-in for about two weeks before
everyone was switched to that server and the old server was shut down.
Neither client has had any issues that I am aware of with these servers.
If your client has the funds, I would suggest installing SSD's as this will
allow for faster startups and placing the filePro temp file on an SSD will
speed up our outputs and anything else filePro uses the temp directory for.
One array for the SSDs and another for the HDDs.
As I am running Windows10 & Server 2012, my temp directory is on my local D
drive which is a Samsung 500GB 860 EVO M.2 SSD. Even with the network
traffic outputs are very fast. Except for some very large client files,
index rebuilds are from my workstation. Some index rebuilds are much faster
when run directly on the server. When I say large files these file have
25,000 records plus and the indexes are multi key. The still rebuild faster
then on the old server.

PS:
Don't forget to get a new license for the new server if your filePro
requires it. You can always point the license manager to the old server
until the new license is installed and tested.
