Importing Degree Symbol Into Filepro

FYI -

In a Windows console, it's character 248 that's the degree symbol.

Character 248 already is the degree symbol.  (At least in a Windows console 
window.)

Is this Windows (he mentions "Excel") or *nix (he also mentions "vi")?
