Corrupt as in "scrambled" data, cannot records you know are there ...??? 
Corrupt how?

To prevent problems with index files make sure you employ proper record 
locking, never add/edit/delete records from within your automatic 
process and do not remove the lock file at will ...

Find root cause, fix your code and life shall be good!
