Backspace and Putty

I have also seen this happening in the mac terminal with filepro 5.0.14 
on Linux using TERM=xterm.  In most places, the backspace seems to be 
OK, but when using the F9 in define processing to search, it moves the 
cursor forward. uname -r on that box returns "2.4.21-4.ELsmp" - I 
believe it's Red Hat Fedora.
