Harold,
I just tried my version of 4.8 on my win7 -64 machine and it ran fine.
It is - as I recall - a 32 bit version, not any thing older.
See if you can access a file with no indexes. Sometimes indexes need
rebuilding.
I do not run mine with Compatibility mode set. However, you do need to
have full permission to whatever folder you place it in. Filepro need
to be able to add folders and files. It needs to be able to write in
the root folder, or better yet set a PFTMP location so it can write there.
Never install filepro in the root. (C:\ or D:\) I always create a
folder on the drive in question and then put fp, fpmerge, tmp, filepro
folders all in that folder. Make it your working folder when you are in
filepro so any files that might write in your current folder are not in
the root. Then you can set security to that folder as needed without
compromise to the rest of the system.
I always need to give any users that need access to the filepro system -
CREATE, READ, WRITE - full access to that folder tree.
I hope this helps.
