It never fails to amaze me when there is a blackout, that people actually
expect their cell phones to work. Many even get annoyed that their cordless
phones aren't working.
Although all of my phones except of my office are cordless (except the base
phone), I have 2 POTS phones and an extra cordless phone in my server room
connected to a UPS separate from my server. That one has my network
equipment connected to it as they draw less power than the server.
Also, Verizon supplied a battery backup for their FIOS equipment. One of
these days, I will add another battery backup unit to increase the run-time.
