Which is why you're always rebuilding indexes, right?
Although I think half the people that rebuild indexes regularly don't know
what they're doing and that you're not supposed to have to--they do it out
of either paranoia or habit.

Imagine that, and I was just about to suggest an off-hours index rebuild!
LOL! To me that is a small price to pay for the relative ease of use of
filePro versus the "junk" of Access (Microsoft cannot seem to get rid of
this imitation database) or how about the "fun" of an Informix?
IMHO filePro does a lot for what it is and what it costs.
