corrupt file and restore

Can you define "had no data in it"?

And, by "moved the blob file over as well", I assume you mean you restored 
it from the same backup?

Are you certain that the key and blob came from the same backup?  Was the 
file (including the blobs) good when you made that backup?  Or is it 
possible that whatever corrupted the file (how did it become corrupt?) 
happen before that backup was made?
