Hi,
I am using Win 7 and have filepro in c:\appl\filepro. When one has to
send an email with an attached upgrade to a program used in
filepro--when the receiver of the update is unskilled with
computers---What is the easiest way to upgrade files in, for example,
filepro\mac\key or filepro\mac\onbydate.prc, etc.
I had one thought, and tried it out, which was to send myself an email
that had an attachment which I renamed to:
C:\appl\filepro\mac\keytest.
When I received the email the attachment name was
c:\appl\filepro\mac\keytest, so I right clicked and did a save as.
The attachment went to c:\appl\filepro\mac and had the name
c--appl-filepro-mac-keytest.
This actually worked when I changed the name from
c--appl-filepro-mac-keytest to just key. Of course I renamed the key
file to something like keyhold, so that if the upgrade failed, I could
just rename keyhold to key and be back in business.
What is the simplest way to upgrade an unskilled user? Any one have a
better way?
Maybe I can have the receiver rename the key file to keyhold, and have
the update end in just mac\key, so the receiver could just eliminate
everything before the word key.
Harold
