I don't think it's him being a dick.  He's on the sharp end of one of the 
pointiest support spears in FOSS; *I* wouldn't volunteer to include more
code that was gonna increase my support load either, were I him.

At least he explains, rationally, *why* he will never include some features,
which is more than some projects do... and more than we probably deserve.

Sure... those are on their critical path: processing mail.

"Where does the window go" is not on the critical path of moving
ASCII.  :-)
