How do I open a filepro app from within an e-mail in Thunderbird 3

I think they changed the entire method of dealing with the link. The
old method would try and execute the link while the new method seems to
send the contents of the link as an input to a program. So it asks me
what program to associate with 'f' (the first letter in the link
'f:\fpro\temp\xxx.bat').
At least, that's what I think is going on.
