Passthrough printing transparency

Scott Walker and I are working on a problem. He has a report specification 
that includes a PCL-5 logo file. Going directly to the printer, it works. 
If he does passthrough print to AnzioWin it works, IF he is running 
through FacetTerm. However,

If he is NOT running FacetTerm, AnzioWin receives corrupted data. 
Specifically, all the hex-80 characters have been stripped out.

Ideas?

More specifics:

1) I had him compare stty settings at login both ways, and they're 
essentially identical.
2) Server is SCO 5.0.6.
3) A VPN is being used.
4) Connection is via telnet.
