OT: Windows notebook login problem

This is a strange one and I was wondering if anyone on this list had run
into it before.

One of my customers (a church and private school), running filePro on an SCO
system, recently got 7 new XP Pro notebooks for use in the school. All
together they have 1 SCO system, 3 Windows servers, and about 250 users.
Most of the users are on the wired LAN with desktop PCs but some are
wireless using notebooks. All of the previous notebooks are working fine.
All notebooks have built-in Intel wireless and wired network adapters.

These new notebooks seem to have a problem logging into the Windows domain
as a regular user when connecting wirelessly. If connected to the wired
network, we can login as any user or administrator with no problem. When
used wirelessly however, only a domain administrator can login - any other
login will be denied with the message that "the domain is not available".
In addition, the notebooks don't get an IP address from the PDC if not
logging in as a domain administrator.

To check this out I took my notebook on site and set it up next to one of
the problem units. The Linksys wireless B access point was very close to
both systems. Once I joined my notebook to the domain I was able to login
as an administrator, as filepro, or as any user with no problem. One the
other notebook, I was only able to login as the domain administrator if
trying to connect to the domain.

The problem units have been tested on Cisco wireless G access points in
other areas of the buildings, the wireless drivers have been updated to the
latest on Intel's web site, the wireless drivers have been removed and
reinstalled, the units have been removed from the domain and re-joined, and
nothing has made any difference so far. I was just wondering if anyone had
an idea of how to fix this or what may have caused it.

Thanks,
Steve Wiltsie
