I have installed 5.6 at least 5 systems - 3 servers and 2 single user
machines and have not had a problem with the install.
The only problem I did have, and not with the install speed, was with the
license server. The first problem was that I was doing a remote install
using terminal sever logging into the system on one machine and installing
fp on another using a mapped drive. The second, more telling part of the
problem, was I had an incorrect license. Solved the problem by redoing the
install from the machine fp was to be installed on and getting the correct
license.
Now to your problem. Are you running an antivirus program? If so, turn it
off and try again.
This may seem a odd question, how much space do you have on your
installation drive and is it fragmented?
Are you running any application in background, ie Diskkeeper?
