ADV: Super savings on final Version of the filePro Survivor Series

Alright, it's nearing the time when the version 2.0 filePro Survivor Series
CD's will be released. It is a happy coincidence that they arrive roughly at
the same time as the new filePro 5.6 version.

A lot has been happening for me, and there's a lot to tell. I'll try and be
concise... but don't hold your breath. :-)

First,
During the last week in June all owners of the Survivor Series will receive
two Quarterly Addendum CD's. one for the 1st quarter and one bringing us
current to the end of the 2nd Quarter. The final Quarter CD will be done and
released to everyone by the and of September. For the past several months I
had envisioned stopping the Quarterly CD's (which were freebies anyway...)
and adding something new into the version 2.0 upgrade. As it turns out, that
was unfeasible, so I decided to bring everyone current and follow through as
originally promised. Look for the 2nd and 3rd Quarter CD's to arrive by end
of June.

Second,
I'm not going to go into too much detail, but the version 2.0 CD's are
really great. I have added the much asked for "index", but it is really more
like a fantastic IndexPlus. :-)  It covers the entire new version in a
unique way that allows you to click through hyperlink directly to a movie
which pertains to the keyword you've entered. Yes, of course this is written
in filePro and fully discussed in the new course.

The new Version 2 course itself is comprised of the full Version 1 set,
which has been enhanced and updated in various places, as well as a brand
new Expert CD. So now there are Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced CD's as
well as this new completion of everything that was built in the first group.
On the Expert disk, the accounting program written in Version 1 is tied to a
General Ledger, complete with new data entry screens (and methods), and
standard G/L reports like up-to-the-minute Balance Sheets, P&L statements
and Transaction Journals. This G/L can be taken from the CD's and molded
into your specific needs. The code for the G/L is provided on the CD for
both *nix and Windows systems.

I'll provide more detail in July when this new Version will be released.
(Actually, I'm fairly confident of this time frame, but I'm telling everyone
who has been asking, that the actual firm release is mid-August. Take a look
at the complexity and polish of Version 1, compound that by a factor of
about 3 and you can understand why I want as much time as possible to go
live on this set. Wish I could be more specific, but you get the general
idea for now... Oh yes, did I almost forget... the Version 2 Survivor Series
also covers all the new filePro 5.6 features.


HERE IS THE BIG SUPER SAVINGS THING I ALLUDED TO IN THE SUBJECT....

You may believe this or not... but here is exactly the reason 10 of you are
going to save really big, and ONE of those ten is going to save $450! Why?
Well, I'm going to tell you... The filePro Survivor Series sold so very well
that I was able to do lots of things, and one of the most important was
buying a good CD printer. I have been making about 10 copies of the FPSS a
month since its release last July/August, and it has been a real chore to
make and print the CD's in all those beautiful pastel colors. This new
printer is terrific, and it will take a lot of work off of Karen and I, but
the last group of 10 Survivor Series CD's was the first batch on I mad on
this new device. Something I didn't know about the printer caused these CD's
to have their print slightly messed up. The misprint is so incredibly small
that 99% of you would never even notice it unless I told you about it.
(which I'm doing here...) I am so anal about releasing perfect product, that
it bothers me no end. I had not noticed while I was making all these CD's,
but the new printer was not bleeding the color *all* the way to the edge of
the CD. Consequently, there is a teeny-tiny white edge around the outside of
some of these CD's. When I say teeny-tiny, I mean anyone can see it (but me
obviously :-). However, in the same token most everyone I have showed them
to thinks they were *supposed* to be that way. Its' really a nothing
difference between these 10 sets and the other 90+ copies I sold. If I had
not told you about this difference, no one would have ever mentioned it.

But, I don't want to be stuck with these 10 Version 1 copies anyway... so I
am going to make you a deal. 10 of you that is. The first 10 people who buy
these slightly "irregular" sets can have them at a price of $275. Almost
everyone else paid $350 for their copy. Some lucky few during a last sale
paid $300, but on the whole, this product cost $350.  Now, why would a mere
$75 discount be so enticing?  Because. Whoever buys these 10 copies will get
a full Version 2 set as well for only $25. That is two complete copies for
$300. (Other people who paid the $350 anytime during the past few months
will receive the Version 2 for free don't worry, you're not getting
screwed.:-)

There is just one more thing... remember that *really* lucky member of this
elite group of 10 filePro Survivors... he/she is going to get their $275
refunded *and* they will also receive the Version 2 set when it arrives for
free!  A $450 windfall. :-) (The Version 2 series will cost $450) Who will
be the recipient of this immense largesse? The person who causes my number
of sales for the FPSS to reach 100.  FilePro is not the kind of thing that
can offer prizes to the millionth customer... :-)  but I think the 100th is
pretty good, don't you? :-)

You'll just have to trust me, it could be the second purchaser, it could be
the 10th (well, I'll tell you up front, it's not the 10th or 9th... :-)  So,
now we're pretty much down to one of the first 8 people who buy these
remaining copies is going to get it for free! And the Version 2 copy for
free! Good luck!

Now the few *important* details. This is a "deal" just for the readers of
this list. Anyone who navigates to my website www.valar.com and buys the
Survivor Series there... is not eligible. They will pay the online price of
$350 (and get the Version 2 for free as I've stated), but they are not going
to be given the product for free. If, by some chance, someone buying a copy
through that mechanism ticks the 100 mark, I will pick the *next* (or the
101st) buyer to get the full refund. If by some miracle (it just won't
happen) two people buy directly from the website at the 100 mark, then the
102nd buyer will get the refund. The refund goes only to a mailing list
member.

many of the glowing responses the series has gained. The simple fact is that
everyone likes it, beginner through full expert. There is something for
everyone in it.

Actually, this is a good place to send out a few more paragraphs. Here is a
readme_first I enclose with the set. I have learned something important
through direct feedback from almost everyone who has bought the series...
*especially* the advanced and expert filePro programmers. They all tell me
that they learned something in every lesson... even the very beginning ones.
This is because the series is *not* really broken into Beginning,
Intermediate and Advanced. That is just a convenient method for labeling the
disks and informing everyone of the absolute step-by-step sequential nature
of the course. In truth, there may be extremely *advanced* concepts and
functions shown in the very first lessons. From the outset, a full
accounting application is built from scratch, and at any point there is
liable to be something complex or advanced or even Wizard level (whatever
the hell that is) in the lesson. So just because it all starts at the
Beginning CD, do not think that is what this actually means literally. There
just has to be a "beginning" somewhere! Here is the readme_first I provide
so people, even the very best filePro programmers among you out there, will
get the very most out of these CD's.



FilePro Survivor Series – IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ

It’s important to realize that these tutorials  were written so that someone
with absolutely NO knowledge of filePro or programming could start at the
beginning and learn step by step up through an advanced level. To facilitate
this, there are several introductory movies that are required if you are in
that situation. If so, start at the very first introductory movie. There
will be approximately 30 minutes of information that you will need to begin
the course successfully.


For More Advanced Users

You will probably not require watching all the introductory material and
will want to jump right into the meat and potatoes of it all. You can do
this best by starting with the Beginning Tutorial, Chapter 1, Lesson 3.
Please, please, please, do not jump into the material any further than that.
I fully realize that you may be a highly advanced filePro programmer and
quite understandably want to skip things you already know, but DON’T! The
material is not actually segregated into Beginning, Intermediate and
Advanced operations. It is very possible (in fact certain) that there will
be “advanced” and even “expert” ideas, tips and functions covered in the
Beginning chapters and lessons. More importantly, the course begins building
an entire accounting application from the absolute *beginning* (Chapter 1,
Lesson 3). The course moves on step-by-step from there employing any and all
levels of design used at any point. You will completely miss the main
benefit of this tutorial set if you don’t take it in the sequential order in
which it was written.

So, please, even though you’ve been writing filePro for 20 years or more and
even though you may truly be an expert already
 take the course in order
from Chapter 1, Lesson 3 onward anyway. I have had no less than 20
absolutely expert level filePro programmers tell me that they found this to
be the very best way to get the most out of the Survivor Series. At no point
within the tutorials do I use a feature or function, or even a word that has
not been thoroughly explained in a previous lesson, so take advantage of
this and try learning filePro from the prospective offered here. It may be
completely different than the way you learned filePro, but that is what
makes it so valuable. I do not profess to know more about filePro than
anyone else, I just guarantee that taking the course from the beginning, no
matter what level you may be at, will open your eyes to aspects (and
certainly even usages) of filePro that you never imagined. As I said
earlier, I have many, many responses from some of the very best filePro
programmers out there which thoroughly prove this out to be true. So don’t
waste your money, take the time to run through the whole course and don’t
take umbrage at the fact that it begins at what is called "Beginning
Programming".  We all know this is just a means to label the disks in a
logical order!

help improve these CD's.
