Exact Windows Printer Syntax?

What is the -exact- method for defining a Windows native filePro printer?

A friend of mine has been advised to use the following:

net use LPT1: \\servername\sharename /persistent:yes

Apparently the result is that the network resource is not correct.  Their
verbiage, not mine.

Their setup is a bit odd, but I'd think it would work:

"I have a parallel printer, hooked up to a targus port uit which hooks up
USB and and has par / serial etc on the hardware."

Need any NET command syntax to use, as well as the actual literal
definition (or appropriate substitutable syntax with definition of what's
being substituted [ie., share name vs printer "called name"]) for the
filePro definition, please.
