Powerless in Seattle

FYI: We had a major wind storm last Thursday which took power out for
something like 1,000,000 customers in the Seattle area. Our systems have
been on a generator since then so we haven't had any computer down time
(I can't say the same for me as I don't work well when the temperatures
are in the freezing range :-)
I can't say enough good things about the Honda EU3000is generator as it's
very quiet, reliable, and burns about 8 gallons per day in continuous
service. The only hassle is the tank only holds about 3.4 gallons so
it requires three trips a day to keep it running.
We're generally the first to lose power, and the last to get it back, and
there are still major outages on Mercer Island with crews from Puget Sound
Energy working around the clock to repair the damage from trees falling
across the power lines, blocking roads, and generally causing trouble.
