Although many printers can be configured to xpect unix line endings,
practically all expect dos line endings by default, and so you really don't
want to remove them from all printing by default.

You may want to remove them from all printing to a particular printer in
really unusual cases, which is why the setting you refer to is in the print
code table for each printer not in some filepro-wide spot.

go into pmaint (main menu choice 7),
S to select the relevant print code table
U to go into update mode
F8 to get the extra options

Even when printing to file for faxing and emailing and converting to pdf, I
still never disable those ^m's because all those things that emulate a
printer (fax server, pdf writer) also expect them, and the email system
doesn't really care but most peoples emails all have them and their email
clients either expect them or don't care.

So if this printer needs them removed, I'd make a special print code table
jus for this printer (even if it just means copying an existing table and
not changing much in it) and change that option only in that new custom
print code table.
