Some of the OS X infrastructure is a bit different (e.g. the way they
handle program startup at boot time),
Building software on OS X can present some ``interesting'' challenges
with shared libraries and linking as well.
I've managed to build a fair number of packages from the OpenPKG portable
packaging system under OS X 10.4.8 (Tiger) on the PowerPC, but have run
into some problems I haven't figure out yet.
