Is it just me, or did Ryan Powers say:

Seems like it.  They're at least inconsistent in their inconsistencies.
Look at Solaris 2.7 = Solaris 7, 2.8 = Solaris 8, etc.  And the funny thing
is that you can see it referred to as 5.7, 5.8, etc., if you look in the
wrong places:

System = SunOS
Node = shell1
Release = 5.8

That's really 2.8, as far as I know, which is just "8".  

I dunno what they're playing at.  Never have.  SunSoft is...SunSoft.
Actually, I'm not sure if they keep them separated anymore.  Used to, but
it might all just be "Sun" now.  Used to have it as a separate software
division.

Cute.  Very logical.  Not.

I still have 1.4.2 on this Windows box and didn't even know a 1.5 (or 5.0)
existed.  Go figure.  Shows how much Java -I- use.  :)
