Using less to view output

I use -pq on the menu to allow the user to select where they would like to 
'print', I would like screen (using less) as an option.

What I am trying to determine is why, on this system only, less is failing 
when used in this fashion.  It works fine on other systems, just not on 
this one.  I could let them use 'Display' but that is limit to 80 chars 
across and only moves forward without the ability to terminate until you 
get to the end of the display.
