Reaching away back, I recall that filePro output formats always
printed blank lines to the end of a form.

I used to have a script that sucked up all of the trailing blank
lines, circumventing the problem you report.

I think Bill Campbell did a similar thing, also away back when.

As I recall I wrote an AWK program script that remembered blank
lines, then printed them and a line containing non white-space
if such were encountered, else quit.

I used this as a printer filter or some such, as I recall.
