I've just uploaded, and Jean-Pierre Radley has courtesly put up,
some new files in the "filePro" directory on his ftp site:
ftp.jpr.com.
If you're not happy with FTP, use your browser to go to:
hhtp://www.jpr.com
and click on:
FTP Directory (ftp.jpr.com)
then on:
Up to higher level directory
at the top of that page, and then on:
filePro
on that page.
Either way you might find something of interest (there's more
there than what I just contributed).
Here's the README from that site describing the files I've just
recently put up there:
=============================================================
README File for Bob Stockler's contributions 05/31-06/11 2005
=============================================================
The following downloadable files are described:
ck.table.pl
mktable.pl
prc.AddCR
prc.addmap
prc.mkAlien
prc.pmap
prc.pprc
deflate.tar
me2.demo.tar
All work on UNIX, Linux and Windows.
There are two Perl programs:
ck.table.pl
===========
This program is of most value when used by those of us who
create and edit processing tables using a text editor such
as 'vi', because it picks up errors common to us, and may
be called from within the text editor to check the table
we are working on. But it also is of use to others, for
pointing out some contitions that pass the filePro syntax
check, but may be undesirable in the program. It can be
configured to tun the filePro syntax checker on the table,
if it detects no no errors it checks for.
mktable.pl
==========
This program will generate a processing table by reading a
file consisting of If - Then lines. It works with files
created by DOCGEN or the filePro CABE documentation. Also
it works with freestyle If - Then lines such as might be
posted to the filePro Mailing List.
Five filePro processing tables (which may be placed in
any filePro File directory):
prc.AddCR
=========
A processing table useful on Windows for adding carriage
returns to lines of text files created on UNIX or Linux,
or on UNIX and Linux to remove them from files created on
Windows.
prc.addmap
==========
This program is, again, of primary interest to those of us
who create and edit filePro processing tables using a text
editor. It appends the file definitions as comments at the
bottom of a processing table for easy reference.
prc.mkAlien
===========
This table more or less automates the creation of an Alien
File to overlay the "key" file of a filePro File.
prc.pmap
========
This table documents filePro "map" files.
prc.pprc
========
This table documents filePro processing tables in a format
that is conservative of space - "If" lines that are empty
and have no associated label are not printed. Long lines
are intelligently broken, for good readability.
One filePro File:
deflate.tar
===========
A tar archive of the filePro File "deflate".
This is program performs two separate functions:
1 - Deflate - Automatically moves all of the active
records in the target filePro File to the front of
the file and, optionally, truncates the file so only
one free record remains as the last record in the file.
The 20-byte filePro field at the beginning of each key
file record is left unchanged.
2 - Key+Data to Key-Only - Automatically converts a target
filePro File that utilizes both the key and data file
segments to one using the key file segment only.
And a demonstration of MENU EDIT II:
me2.demo.tar
============
This is a tar archive of the filePro File "me2". It is a
fully functional version of MENU EDIT II, but will execute
for only 90 days after its first use. It includes a Perl
program (not time limited) that can be used to rename a
filePro User Menu and all of its associated shell scripts
or batch files in one simple operation.
All of the files are gzipped. Windows users can use WinZip to
extract them (including the gzipped tar archives). The latter
users will also have to rename the processing tables. UNIX
and Linux users will have to make the user "filepro" owner of
all files and directories.
All programs have lines near the top that allow for users to
customize them for their own preferences.
Now, this is Bob back again, suggesting you visit that site and
scarf what you're interested in.
Also I suggest that if YOU have anything to share that you think
others of us might be interested in, please put it up there.
Bob
PS - JPR has maintained this FTP site for the sharing of filePro
stuff for a long time. Three Cheers for Jean-Pierre Radley !!!
