-RO causes an error

Joe Chasen was kind enough to keep me in the loop and got me to the point 
that when I enter the file I do not get an error ( I had to rebuild all the 
lookup indexes as he and some others suggested). BUT there are two 
additional problems I now encounter:

1. In auto proc I use a show command to be placed on the screen. When I 
enter the file with -RO the show statement is not decipherable.

2. As I move through the file with the arrow key I eventually get an error 
"Too many filepro files open at once. Maximum is 20." I do not get this 
error when accessing the file without -RO.

Does anyone have any work arounds or should I just forget about the use 
of -RO?
