2013 CAPR Property Rights Conference!
It is time to register for the 2013 CAPR property rights Workshops event
which will take place Saturday, March 16th during the day ahead of our 6th
Annual Banquet. What started out three years ago as a three hour sit down
with Coordination Guru Fred Kelly Grant has grown to an event that could be
billed as a full fledged conference. We have titled this year's event
<http://www.capr.us/workshop.html> "In Defense of Private Property -
Strategies You Can Use!" and our list of speakers will bear that title out,
including:
* Ed Braddy, Director of American Dream Coalition who will present
"How Florida Repealed Growth Management".
* Margaret Byfield, Director of American Stewards of Liberty who will
talk on "Property Right Victories Using Coordination". As the daughter of
Wayne and Jean Hage, Margaret grew up in the midst of one of the most famous
property rights battles in America.
* Elizabeth Nickson, author and journalist, will discuss material from
her new book "Eco-Fascists: How Radical Conservationists Are Destroying Our
Natural Heritage".
* Jeanette Petersen, Staff Attorney, Institute for Justice will speak
on "Civil Asset Forfeiture".
* Pat Murakami, founder of Action Seattle will present "Getting Smart:
Understanding the Impacts of Smart Growth and What You Can Do to Protect
Urban Quality of Life".
* Scott Roberts, the Citizen Action Network Director at Freedom
Foundation will talk on "Addressing Property Rights at the Local Level".
* Roger Almskaar, President of the Whatcom County CAPR Chapter will
present "An Overview of Washington's Growth Management Act, and Needed
Reforms".
Whether you are a novice or a veteran to property rights issues, each of
these speakers will enlighten you and provide actionable information that
you can use.
This event will be held at the DoubleTree Suites Hotel in Tukwila,
Washington, the same place as the CAPR Banquet. For more information and to
register, please point your browser to the Workshops
<http://www.capr.us/workshop.html> web page. Please register ahead. Last
year we had such a large registration turnout at the door that the hotel ran
out of food and some of our folks didn't get lunch. The only thing we want
you to leave hungry for this year is the opportunity to use what you've
learned!
