CAPR urges you to consider support of Senate Bill 2122. Please see below.
Senate Bill 2122 Overview
S.2122, The Defense of Environment and Property Act of 2012 (there is a
companion bill in the House that will be introduced)
* "Thousands of property owners across America are facing aggressive
action from the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers, with no legal means to
fight back. While environmental protection is important, I believe that it
must be balanced with the Constitutional right of landowners to do what they
please with their own property. That is why I have introduced S.2122, the
Defense of Environment and Property Act of 2012 to restore common sense to
federal jurisdiction over navigable waters, and place reasonable limitations
on an agency that has become dangerously out of control."
* If they take your land anyway, they have to pay you double the
value of your land
* They have to have a judge's order to come onto your land
* Protects the primary authority of states over Federal Government
agencies

Bill Support Status
Paraphrasing Rand Paul from a March 13 Tele Town Hall: "The bill had 7
co-sponsors. There should be at least another 8-10 that should be on the
bill. Once we get to 15 or so, momentum will pick up. Some GOP members are
opposing it because they are afraid it will "rile up the environmentalists".
BUT, we need to pursue the significant changes we want and need, not settle
for only seeking marginal incremental changes."
Building Support for the Bill
Things you can do:
1. Call/email Senators to get them to cosponsor the bill (Capitol

them
