CAPR UPDATE

News from Citizens' Alliance for Property Rights

December, 2010

Nominations Needed for CAPR 2011 Election

We are getting ready for the next election of officers for the Board of
Citizens' Alliance for Property Rights. The CAPR Board is comprised of
volunteers who understand that property rights is one of the cornerstones of
a truly free society and selflessly pursue that goal. The work can be
difficult, time consuming and frustrating but also tremendously rewarding.
To put a fine point on that last statement I will say that the CAPR Board is
the finest group of individuals that this writer has worked with.

The Election Committee is now soliciting nominations for the Board,
including self-nominations. If you or someone you know would be an asset to
the cause and is ready to roll up their sleeves and get busy, please forward
your nomination to Jeff Wright / darcors at comcast.net.

Stay Tuned!

Many of you have not received a lot of CAPR news in the last several months.
But that doesn't mean that the CAPR boards haven't been busy. In addition
to work with the chapters and other activities, Executive Director Steve
Hammond, Board members and new chapter members have begun an initiative to
start "issues committees". These committees will work on special areas of
interest like agriculture, water rights, shorelines issues and the list goes
on. You can see a list of committees in progress or proposed at the top of
the CAPR website homepage at www.capr.us <http://www.capr.us/> .

Within the last month Steve and others sat down with a number of interested
parties in Kittitas County for a "water summit" with the goal of coalescing
several groups into one united voice to save water rights in danger of
confiscation by the Washington Department of Ecology. CAPR was never meant
to be a "club" and issues committees will allow individuals with common
interests to come together and work on issues regardless of where they live.

There has been significant work done by the CAPR Legal Fund Board in the
past months. CAPR will increasingly turn to the courts to fight for
property rights. We now have attorneys working on several potential
challenges which could have broad impacts for property rights. Stay tuned
for announcements of these actions as they are rolled out. Included among
them will be the challenge by the Jefferson Co. CAPR chapter of that
county's Shoreline Master Program, the first SMP update in Washington.

Naked Fish". You can see it on the CAPR website under the "Newsletter" tab.

Save the Date!

Mark your calendar to attend the 2011 CAPR Banquet to be held on March 19th.
We will be back at the DoubleTree in Tukwila, WA. Look for full details in
January but for now we will tell you that we have an excellent keynote
speaker lined up and have added a full day of workshops on the same day.

Donate to CAPR Online

You can now donate to CAPR online. Go to www.capr.us <http://www.capr.us/>
(same as proprights.org) and click on the DONATE tab. Even as a volunteer
organization, the level of funding available determines what we can
accomplish in the fight to preserve and protect property rights. Help us
help you. Donate!

Matching Contributions

If you work for a company, which adds matching funds to charitable
contributions, remember the CAPR Legal Fund. All donations to the Legal
Fund are tax deductible and the additional contribution by your employer
makes leverages your contribution towards protecting your property rights.
