CAPR Banquet Date Set
Mark your calendar for Friday, May 15th. That's the date for the second
annual CAPR Banquet. This year's event will be held at the Embassy Suites
Hotel in the Eastgate area of Bellevue. Last year's Banquet at Emerald
Downs was great, but unfortunately we outgrew it before we arrived at the
big night. Embassy Suites will afford us more room, more flexibility and a
more central location. Also, this year you will be able to sign up via the
CAPR website as well as by mail.
We've moved the event to later in the Spring to avoid the legislative
session. Last year a number of elected officials who wanted to come were
tied up with the peoples business and the new schedule should allow them to
make it.
To make it even better, Bob Williams of Evergreen Freedom Foundation will be
our keynote speaker this year.
If you want to support property rights and have a good time in a room full
of great people, plan on being there. We'll get more particulars to you
soon.
Evergreen Freedom Foundation Opens Property Rights Center
Evergreen Freedom Foundation will hold a luncheon on Thursday, February 12,
2009 to kick off the opening of its new Property Rights Center. And what
better way to start than to host Susette Kelo and Jeff Benedict as speakers.
The Kelo case shocked the nation three years ago when the U.S. Supreme Court
gave its blessing to an unconstitutional eminent domain taking of Kelo's
home. Investigative journalist Jeff Benedict has written a book about the
case.
Like the CAPR Banquet, this will be an opportunity you won't want to miss.
Learn more about E.F.F. and register for the banquet at

CAPR Election Time Again
Once again, we're nearing the time when the CAPR Boards of Directors are
elected. Some might say confirmed, but the best scenario would be to have
twice as many candidates to choose from as positions to fill. Last year's
call netted four excellent new board members. If you have an interest in
joining the CAPR Board, the Political Action Committee Board or the Legal
Fund Board, contact Jeff at <mailto:darcors at comcast.net>
darcors at comcast.net. If you feel that you are not quite ready to be on one
of the Boards but would like to volunteer time to the cause, we still want
to hear from you. The more resources we have, the more we can do to protect
property rights.

CAPR Pierce County Chapter Plans Rally
The Pierce County Chapter of CAPR is in the planning stages for a Property
Rights rally to be held at the Capital in Olympia on March 2nd. Once those
plans are solidified, we'll get an announcement to you.
Odds and Ends
Seattle Times Op-Ed on Puget Sound Partnership
Shortly after last months section on Puget Sound Partnership, there was an
excellent Op-Ed piece in the Seattle Times written by Bob Benze. Bob is a
Director on the Board of Kitsap Alliance of Property Owners (KAPO) and an
environmental engineer. You can read the article here
<http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opinion/2008562626_opin28benze.html>
. If you are interested in more of Bob's analysis of PSP, email Jeff at
<mailto:darcors at comcast.net> darcors at comcast.net and I'll forward his
testimony to PSP which was endorsed by KAPO.
Donate to CAPR Online
You can now donate to CAPR online. Go to <http://www.capr.us/> www.capr.us
(same as proprights.org) and click on the DONATE tab. Even as a volunteer
organization, the level of funding available determines what we can
accomplish in the fight to preserve and protect property rights. Help us
help you. Donate!
Matching Contributions
If you work for a company, which adds matching funds to charitable
contributions, remember the CAPR Legal Fund. All donations to the Legal
Fund are tax deductible and the additional contribution by your employer
makes leverages your contribution towards protecting your property rights.
CAPR Meeting Schedule
The next meeting of the King Co. chapter of CAPR will be held at 7:00 PM,
Thursday, February 5th. The meeting site is the IHOP restaurant located at
1433 NW Sammamish Rd. in Issaquah. Consider coming early for dinner and
conversation.
