If you want answers, please attend the Maple Valley Library meeting Thursday
(below) for specific information and ask Sheriff Sue Rahr, those questions.

Is there any way of getting the statistics of what crimes the Sheriff's
office has brought to justice. Are they all speeding tickets or have they
arrested 10 gang members for doing something unlawful and arrested 50 drug
dealers. I am interested in what their priorities are. Are they working
more on cutting down on teenage drinking or actually solving crimes that are
more serious. I'm not aware of the amount they spend on computers, which
can be very useful in law enforcement, but I want to know what are their
priorities at this time on crime solving. If they are only giving speeding
tickets (I'm not talking road racing which should be addressed) then maybe
priorities need to be shifted also.

Right Steve! And at the meeting in Fall City last night, the Sheriff said
that the Thursday Maple Valley meeting will be held from 6-8 PM at the Maple
Valley Library.

The attendance in Fall City was overflowing. Several comments were directed
toward the lack of interest of the King County Executive and Council in
public safety, in protecting citizens and property rights as the first
priority of government. Also mentioned was the publicized waste of money on
computer systems that were never used which approximates the current budget
shortfall. It was suggested that money can be saved now by cutting the DDES
and other questionable lower priority programs. Several people talked of
the necessity to arm themselves since cutting back enforcement of property
crimes under $10,000.00 is an open invitation to gangs and druggies to come
out to the rural areas and take what they want with no consequences. Anger
about the CAO was expressed as well. Many of our CAPR members were there as
was Kathy Lambert.

It is very important for us to fill the Library in Maple Valley and keep up
the pressure.

These are actually a series of meetings in various locations around the
county. Southeast KC will host one at Precinct 3 in Maple Valley on Thursday
evening as well. I think there are four total meetings planned.

Steve Hammond, CAPR President, Advocate & Paladin for Property Rights

It is not the right of property which is protected, but the right to
property. Property, per se, has no rights; but the individual - the man -
has three great rights, equally sacred from arbitrary interference: the
right to his LIFE, the right to his LIBERTY, the right to his PROPERTY....
The three rights are so bound together as to be essentially one right. To
give a man his life but deny him his liberty, is to take from him all that
makes his life worth living. To give him his liberty but take from him the
property which is the fruit and badge of his liberty, is to still leave him
a slave.

Justice George Sutherland, U.S. Supreme Court, January 21, 1921

This Monday, June 23rd, the King Co. Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's
Office will hold a public awareness meeting to educate unincorporated King
Co. residents on the devastating effects of proposed budget cuts. King Co.
Executive Ron Sims has suggested that the Sheriff's and Prosecutor's offices
will take the same across the board cuts as other agencies, even though
public safety is a core function of government while others are not. To
make matters worse, the Executive has cut the budget for the Sheriff's
Office on a yearly basis for the last several years. Sheriff Sue Rahr has
stated that response times will go down and certain types of crimes will not
be investigated if the cuts are made. Obviously, this will affect the
safety and well being of county residents.

The meeting will be held at the Fall City Fire Station located at 4301 334th
Place SE, Fall City from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Sheriff Rahr and others are
scheduled to speak. Please consider attending to show your support for the
Sheriff and Prosecutor in their efforts to keep us all safe!
