Subject: GET OUR I-933 MESSAGE OUT
TO ALL FOLKS INTERESTED IN GETTING OUR I-933 MESSAGE TO THE VOTERS
The “No on I-933” has a paid staff for getting lies out to the public, and active they are! Among other things, they have lying signs out, they have their contacts e‑mailing ten people each, they have commissioned the UW to do a study on I‑933 so that they can quote the study close to election time, they e-mail for volunteers for various activities (like writing letters to the papers), etc.
As a group, we are isolated from each other. We are each doing our own thing (consequently, some not knowing what to do) and each is “reinventing the wheel.” That is not an efficient way to work.
I would like to call a meeting so that we can organize ourselves, pool our thoughts, get an active-members group list so we can contact each other, trade ideas, energize each other and know what others are doing, etc., much as we did before the successful Referendum signature-gathering. That meeting drew 60 people.
For example, only now (after distributing 400), I am realizing that the flyer that I sent out is good for a certain portion of the population that has a little background on the property rights issue. However, people that do not know this issue or even about the CAO need a flyer a bit more simple. If I had had others to confer with two weeks ago, the flyer would have been right and more effective from the beginning. Now, I am wondering how many people actually read it. I am considering that it might be better to have that info on our proprights website so people can get more detailed info if they need it; but the flyer that goes out perhaps, should be more of a “grabber.” I could sit down and try to work this out by myself, but I am thinking we should all put our brains together, do it right and get it out to the public and also talk about strategies.
For this purpose, please come to a meeting at Rod McFarland’s house (15019 SE May Valley Road, Renton) on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. Bring your ideas for a flyer and for strategies.
I hope for a very good turnout.
