Fergi:

Part of the mission of CAPR is to remove the yoke of environmental tyranny
that many of us are currently living with. Is it correct to infer from your
message that you object to our efforts to spread the costs of environmental
protections over all who would benefit, instead of just those who are
unlucky enough to own the land we have finally decided to protect? Do you
also believe that those who own the land where we decide to build new
hospitals, schools, or train tracks should donate that land?

I certainly do not want to live in a society that routinely expropriates
private property. I will place the protection of basic civil rights over
theft in the name of environmental protection every time. Perhaps you should
educate yourself on environmental conditions in those areas of the world
that do not have secure property rights and think about the many negative
impacts to your other inalienable rights when your right to own and use
property is taken by force.

Initiative 933 certainly does take precedence over the unequal application
of environmental regulations. It has no impact whatsoever on regulations
applied equally and fairly to all of us.

I don't think it likely that I-933 will have any impact on the "community,
livelihood and wellbeing of our future progenitors," at least not until we
get the whole time travel thing perfected. I do think it will definitely
have a positive impact on the lives of our descendents.

I urge you to spend some time with the exact text of the initiative and
reconsider your position. Perhaps you will find a way to vote for fairness
over theft.

I will forward this exchange to those who support CAPR so that they will
hear your side of the issue and can decide for themselves.
