Several people have asked for more info on the director positions that
will be up for election. CAPR is a Washington non-profit corporation
with a Board of Directors that are responsible for all operations of the
organization. The board is made up of the four officers - President,
Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer - plus five other directors.
Collectively the board makes, and is responsible for (we do carry
officers and directors insurance), all the formal decisions involved in
running CAPR. Board members meet at least twice each month. There is a
worksession meeting the last Friday of each month, currently at my
house, that starts at 7:00 p.m. and goes until we are done - so far
never past midnight. There is a public meeting at Issaquah IHOP the
first Thursday of each month from 7:00 p.m. till 9 or 10. IHOP kicks us
out at 10:00 p.m. We have been keeping the meetings centrally located in
King County as we have directors coming from Enumclaw, Bear
Creek/Carnation, and Vashon. Directors also attend meetings of other
organizations and government that have relevance to property rights.
Most attend relevant rallys and protests, lobby officials, write
articles for the newsletter, or lick envelopes and stamps for mailings.
In any organization, a small percentage of the members do most of the
work and most of our directors have certainly fit that mold. I don't
mean to scare anyone off but rather hope to encourage those that can to
get more involved in the organization.
