[Capr-announce] Annual Election

I'd like to put forth some ideas to consider before the annual meeting
on Thursday. CAPR has a board of directors and officers who will all be
up for reelection on Thursday. Those current leaders have worked hard
over the last year to get us where we are. During the last year, one of
the things that we spent considerable time and energy on was our mission
statement and a set of policies that define who we are as an
organization and what we are working towards. Please go to the web site
and read or reread those items. If you are not in agreement with the
direction spelled out there, now is the perfect time to change that
direction. Nominations will be taken from the floor Thursday. Feel free
to nominate yourself. Nominees will be given an opportunity to make a
pitch for their changes in policy or support for existing policy and the
membership will decide how to proceed by whom they elect.

Recognize that all positions are unpaid and there are only so many hours
in the day. If you have a pet project that you would like to see done,
you will likely have to take the lead. The supply of good ideas far
exceeds the available people and money to do them all. It is only human
nature for those who do invest their time to work on the projects they
think important. You don't have to be on the board to lead a committee.

I hope to see you at IHOP on Thursday. A good turnout will send a
positive message to those who have given countless hours to this
organization over the past year.

Rodney McFarland, President
CAPR
